Caring for your LuxExtend Hair extensions

Proper care of your LuxExtend hair extensions is essential to prolong their lifespan and ensure they look their best. You will enjoy your extensions longer and more by using the right products and styling tools. Poor care using unsuitable products or styling tools will make the hair look unkempt and even dry.

Washing your LuxExtend hair extensions

To prevent tangles, it is always important to brush thoroughly before washing. When washing, always wash your hair with the length down and not in a large bunch on your head. Always use a caring product after washing! This can be a conditioner or mask. Distribute this well through lengths and ends, avoiding the scalp and extension attachment. Make sure that no residue of shampoo or care is left in the hair.

Which products to use?

It’s important to realize that extensions do not have the same DNA as your own hair. The Extensions may react differently to your shampoo than your own hair. Therefore the care products that you have been satisfied with for years may even be unsuitable now. It’s important that you use a hair care product that cares for your own hair and the extensions. Extensions are no longer nourished from the scalp like your own hair. That is why it is so important that the Extensions are given extra care with the right products.

Some shampoos, conditioners, and styling products contain ingredients that can damage color, such as sulfates and alcohol. Use sulfate-free and color-safe shampoos and conditioners to maintain the color of the extensions. We strongly recommend using the exclusive Kérastase Paris brand.

Important! Absolutely do not use volume shampoo and preferably do not use organic shampoos, as these will dry out the extensions and not provide sufficient nourishment. We also advise against anti-dandruff shampoos because they often contain zinc and cause the color to fade. In addition, we strongly advise against caring for the hair solely or long-term with OlaPlex products. OlaPlex is a recovery product that is great for your own hair, but does not provide sufficient care for our extensions.

Drying your LuxExtend Hair Extension

After washing, you should first gently pat your hair dry with a towel, do not rub as this can damage the hair. Wet hair is more fragile than dry hair. It’s therefore wise to first put a serum in your hair and then blow dry it.

Brush your hair, with a special brush for wet hair, while blow-drying to prevent tangles. Apply an oil or detangling cream to the hair before brushing out.

Important! Never sleep with wet or towel-dried hair. To prevent tangles, it is extremely important not to sleep with wet hair. Make sure that the hair is completely dry at the roots. Sometimes the hair appears dry because the ends are dry, but the roots are still damp. This can cause tangles.

We recommend that you always blow-dry the extensions and do not allow them to air dry. Due to the amount of hair, it takes a long time to air dry and if it stays wet for too long it can lose its itch.

Styling your LuxExtend Hair Extensions

Extensions are a different type than your own hair, including how they fall. That's why we always recommend styling your hair with heat tools. The tools ensure that the hair becomes shiny and polished, so that the extensions blend beautifully with your own hair.

Important! We recommend that you do not set your styling tools to 180 degrees as a higher temperature risks damaging the hair. Always apply a heat protectant to the hair before using heat tools.

After the hair has been styled, you can give the hair extra care and shine in the lengths and ends with an oil or serum.

Brushing your LuxExtend hair extensions

When brushing your hair, always start brushing from the ends of your hair. Hold the hair with one hand above it so that you do not pull extensions loose from the attachment.

It’s very important to brush the hair regularly every day. At the very least, the hair should be brushed every morning and evening. We recommend using a Hair Extension brush, this brush ensures that the hair is not damaged.

to prevent the hair from tangling during the night, we recommend sleeping with a loose braid.

Coloring of the hair extensions

It is possible to color your hair extensions. The hair extensions are made of real hair, so they can easily withstand coloring.

However, it is not possible to color the extensions lighter (bleaching/decolouring)! Painting the same shade, darker or touching up your roots is no problem, but not lighter! All extensions have already passed a dyeing process in the factory and we therefore advise not to decolourize them again, as this can damage the quality.

Use care products that retain your hair color better and also protect it well.

Absolutely do not do this!

Some things are better not to do with extensions, we advise against the following in particular:

  • Sleeping with wet/loose hair.

  • Swimming with loose hair. The extensions must not come into contact with chlorine.

  • Bleaching/bleaching

When you do this, tangles can form and it is harmful to the extensions and your own hair. The color and quality of the extensions can also be affected.
